Ministries - Adult
Worship Services - Each Sunday morning at 9:00 or 11:00 in the sanctuary. The 9:00 and 11:00 services are identical in style and content. During both services, there is childcare for babies through age 2, a children's sermon followed by extended session for ages 3 through 5K, and children's church on the third Sunday of each month for grades 1-4 (see preschool and children's ministries). Worship is the time when the entire church family gathers to offer praise to God and celebrate what God is doing in our lives. The worship services are often the first contact visitors have with our church.

Sunday School - Each Sunday morning at 9:50 a.m., there are small-group Bible studies for all ages designed to help people connect the Bible with daily life. In small groups, people who share common life experiences and are in the same stage of life have opportunities to build relationships with one another as they study the Bible together. Greeters are stationed at all the entrances to the church to help you find the right place to be. Most of our Sunday morning Bible study groups for adults are loosely grouped by age:

Wednesday Evening Opportunities - Each Wednesday evening, the entire church family gathers around the dinner tables to enjoy a fellowship meal together. Preschoolers, children, and youth scatter to their choirs, mission groups, and Bible studies (see sections on preschool, children's and youth ministries). Adults have the option of attending the traditional prayer meeting led by one of our ministers or choosing between two discipleship training classes beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings are informal times when we get to know people in the church we might not get to spend time with on Sunday mornings.

Discipleship Courses - Special interest courses are offered each term (Fall, Winter, and Spring), usually on Wednesday evenings, to enable adults to deepen their understanding of God, others, and self; to deal with moral and social issues from a biblical perspective; to understand what it means to be a Christian in general and a Baptist in particular; to equip Christians to discover and use their spiritual gifts; to hevlp church members effectively share their faith with others; and to responsibly interpret the Bible and apply it to life. Courses are offered in at least two departments of study each term: Bible, Theology/History, Ministry, and Spiritual Formation.

Women's Bible Study - A monthly women's Bible study group (W.I.N.G.S. - Women in Need of God's Spirit) meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. All women of the church are invited to participate in this opportunity for Bible study and fellowship. Child care is offered.

Ministry Teams - As needs are identified each year, ministry teams are formed to meet those needs. Church members are encouraged to help identify needs and to serve on any of these ministry teams for which they have been gifted. Teams are clustered around five broad categories related to the church's mission: Worship, Missions, Education, Fellowship, and Ministry.

Committees - Another way church members participate in the ministry of the church is by serving on the various committees which help church life to function smoothly and responsibly. Often behind the scenes, people who serve on committees keep the life of the church healthy and focused. Church members are encouraged to volunteer to serve on any of these committees: Benevolence, Bereavement, Child Enrichment Ministry, Children's Ministry, Constitution and Bylaws, Decorations, Facilities, Food Services, Grounds, Nominating, Ordinance, Personnel, Preschool Ministry, Property and Space, Public Relations, Recreation, Scholarship, Stewardship, Strategic Planning, Transportation, Youth Ministry, Sound, Weddings.

College students - from area colleges, along with Earle Street members who are in college elsewhere but are home for the weekend, bring a rich diversity of ideas, insights, humor, perspectives and experiences to the college group at Earle Street. The group gets together for fun, fellowship, and recreation on a regular basis. Recent activities have included, Sunday lunches, bowling, movies, and a trip to Carowinds.

Our college ministry team has organized a C.A.P. (College Assistance Pal) ministry in which church members "adopt" college students during the academic year. Adopters remember students on their birthdays and special occasions, send exam care packages, and find creative ways throughout the academic year to remind them that the church cares about them.

Young Adults - There are three active and vibrant young adult Sunday School classes that serve as the foundation of our young adult ministry. One class tends to be made up of nearly-weds and newly-weds, another tends to be for parents of preschoolers, and the other for parents of grade-school children - - although those distinctions are not rigidly followed. Young adults are encouraged to find the class that best meets their needs and matches their stage of life. Each class is socially active; and throughout the year, the three classes meet together for fellowship activities.

Senior Adults - Senior adults are invited to experience eXtra Years of Zest with the XYZ group which meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. There is a catered lunch and an entertaining program presented by guests from the community. It is a wonderful time of fellowship. This active group of senior adults also plans beach trips, day trips, and fun outings that keep our senior adults busy.
