About the event
Dorothy Urch wrote a true story of her Orphan Train experience that began with a steam train journey from Grand Central Station in New York City to a rural Iowa farm. While Dororthy was joined by an older brother on this ride, her younger brother, the baby of the family of ten, had been placed on an earlier train to Kansas. Come join Dorothy and discover her life as an adopted daughter, school girl, one-room school teacher, wife, mother and grandmother. Wait in anticipation to discover if Charles was ever found.
Charles Found at Last has been published again by Dorothy’s descendants who have dedicated the monies raised from the sale of the book to Earle Street’s Senior Adult Ministry Council to promote awareness of homelessness among today’s school children. The cost of the book is $7. We will accept cash, credit cards and checks made out to Earle Street Baptist Church.
Come have your book signed by one of Dorothy’s descendents. Her daughters Jo An Urch Boehm and Bev Urch Cantrell, grandson Dan Boehm, grandchildren Dana, Leslie, Laura and Wes and great-great granddaughter Samantha will be here to meet and greet you.
