Closing in on completion!
Scraping, grading and refinishing of our parking lots
Loss of Parking Lots
As we approach the final months of construction, the time has arrived for us to give up another portion of our parking lot in order for Mavin to scrape, grade and prepare the surface to be finished. Effective today, Monday, April 9, Mavin will close off the entrance from Stone Avenue between the gym and the Scout Building. The parking lot between the gym and the Scout Building and immediately behind the Scout Building will be unavailable until the project is finished. Likewise, the small parking lot between the two playgrounds will no longer be available for use. Lastly, no pedestrian traffic will be allowed between the Scout Building and gym.
Where can we park?
Parking is still available on the far side of the Scout Building and that lot can be accessed by entering from Stone Avenue using the Pennebaker entrance. Pedestrians will need to walk along Stone Avenue, in front of the Family Life Center, and up Robinson Street to access the main building.
Parking is still available in the parking lot across from the sanctuary. This lot is restricted on Sunday mornings to senior adults and people with mobility issues.
Parking is always available in the lots across Stone Avenue on Sunday morning. There are plenty of parking spaces available in those lots and our shuttle buses run continuously on Sunday mornings. This is the quickest, easiest and safest way to get to the main building on Sunday mornings.
Parking is available at Stone Academy, in their lots and on the long stretch of street in front of the playground on Croft Street. The walk from that area is only .2 of a mile, an easy walk for healthy members of our congregation. Also remember that you can park at Stone Academy and ride your bikes to church. We have bike racks available in front of the sanctuary for your convenience.
Parking is available on the surrounding streets of our neighborhood. However, if you choose to park on one of the neighborhood streets, please do not block the driveway of a resident. Also please obey the traffic laws and do not park within 30 feet of an intersection. South Carolina law requires that no vehicle park within 30 feet of an intersection so that emergency vehicles can turn and travel the intersections safely. The City of Greenville Police have the authority to ticket and/or tow any car parked within 30 feet of an intersection. Our Parking Team will have barricades up immediately around the church to prevent you from parking within 30 feet of the intersection. But please obey this law on the other streets in the neighborhood as well. We want to be good neighbors and we want you to avoid a ticket!
Our Parking Team will continue to be outside and available to help you on Sunday mornings. Look for the folks with the safety vests on and please follow their directions about where to park and where not to park your vehicle. We realize this is an inconvenience to our congregation and guests and we promise to work with Mavin to complete this portion of the project as quickly as possible. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns about parking, please feel free to reach out to Denise Plumblee or one of the leaders of the Parking Team – Will Middleton or Rob Traywick.
Again, you are a remarkable and wonderful church family. Please continue to hang in here with us as the end is in sight!
