Re-Gathering at Earle Street

With the full support of our Medical Ministry Team, Deacons, and ministers, we are excited to announce that, unless the situation changes between now and then, our church will begin re-gathering on Sunday, June 14! Based on our interpretation of the information available to us, and our belief that we are approaching a point at which the joy of re-gathering will outweigh the frustration, we are taking steps to provide the safest environment possible.

Many of the details, logistics, and mechanics still have to be worked out, but we are proposing that the framework for our re-gathering be as follows:

Gatherings will be limited to Sunday morning worship services only. There will be no in-person Sunday school, Wednesday activities, or small-group gatherings, and no childcare.

1.

We ask that everyone who gathers practice social distancing. Refrain from physical contact, enter and exit only by designated entrances and exits, use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the Sanctuary, sit only in designated areas in the Sanctuary, be respectful of others, and feel free to wear facial coverings.

3.

We will continue to provide online worship services so that those who cannot or should not attend will be able to worship with us. Additionally, until Wednesday evening activities resume, we will continue providing midweek devotionals.

5.

We will continue to communicate constantly with our church family as plans continue to develop about the gradual phasing in of other activities and the lifting of more restrictions.

7.

We will continue to communicate as we have been: producing our weekly digital newsletter and mailing hardcopies to those without internet access, sending out weekly congregational care updates, information, and prayer requests, and posting to our social media channels as much as possible.

9.

In preparation for our re-gathering, we will be sending out a survey to the congregation in order to estimate the number of people interested in attending each service, to gather ideas, suggestions, thoughts, and feelings about our return to in-person worship, and to enlist volunteers for the various teams and positions that must be filled in order to facilitate a meaningful and safe gathering.

11.

The first (abbreviated) service at 9 am will be primarily for families with preschoolers and children. Others are welcome to attend as well, but please anticipate some distractions. We will allow at least 1 hour between services to clean and sanitize the Sanctuary before the 11 am service begins.

2.

At first, we respectfully ask the following people not to attend: those who deem themselves high-risk; those who are sick; those who have a fever; those who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

4.

Small groups may not meet in our church buildings at this time. We encourage small groups to continue staying connected via Zoom, phone calls, emails, etc.

6.

We are asking for volunteers to help facilitate our re-gathering. We understand that many former volunteers may no longer feel comfortable serving or even attending. We need new volunteers to direct others during worship services and help maintain church gathering guidelines.

8.

In order to keep the building as clean and sanitized as possible, we are limiting public access to our buildings during the week to church staff only, who remain available to respond to pastoral care needs, emergencies, and to assist with ongoing ministry needs and resources.

10.

We are excited about our re-gathering and are determined to make it as joyful, meaningful, safe, and orderly as we possibly can. We continue to ask for your prayers, support, encouragement, understanding, patience, and cooperation as we plan and prepare for our return to in-person worship. Even though our gathering will not be the same as it used to be, we are excited about actually being together again. Stay tuned, and remain prayerful. It won’t be much longer now!
