Part of our church’s mission statement is ”to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.” Missional in focus, our church voluntarily cooperates with and supports the work of God through other Baptists groups. Currently, 10% of all undesignated offerings to our church are channeled through what we call “Cooperative Missions.” The cooperative missions percentage of any undesignated offerings to the church will be sent through the South Carolina Baptist Convention (www.scbaptist.org) and the Southern Baptist Convention (www.sbc.net). We also honor the requests of those who would prefer that the cooperative missions percentage of their undesignated offerings be sent through the South Carolina Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (www.cbfsc.org) and the national Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (www.cbf.net). In addition, through the church budget, our church supports the work of the Greenville Baptist Association (www.greenvillebaptist.org) and the Baptist World Alliance (www.bwanet.org).
Our Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) leads our church in Southern Baptist mission education, mission action, and mission support through the Janie Chapman Offering for state missions, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, and the special offering to relieve world hunger. On Wednesday evenings, we offer mission education for preschoolers (Mission Friends), and children in grades 1-5 (Girls in Action [GAs] and Royal Ambassadors [RAs].
We also have a Bridge Builders Team that coordinates our evangelistic efforts and equips us to share the story of Jesus and our own personal faith stories with others, and an Outreach Team that reaches out to newcomers to help them feel welcome to, and informed about, our church.
Once a year (usually in the Spring), we have a one-day community missions blitz called “Operation Inasmuch” when we try to get as many people as possible (preschoolers, children, youth, and adults) to be involved in some kind of local mission work.
Including our support of Baptist missions, our church gives well over a tithe of all undesignated offerings to support the work of Christ both near and far. We offer mission trips, experiences, and projects in support of Community Missions, National Missions, and International Missions. Our church also sends financial support and volunteers to serve as needed with other mission partnerships, such as:
