Connections Pastor Ministry

Position Description

       The Connections Pastor is responsible for overseeing the connection and spiritual growth strategy of Earle Street Baptist Church. The Connections Pastor will seek to get and keep people connected to our church and to keep our church connected to the community. The Connections Pastor will work to facilitate the relational connections and spiritual growth of members through various weekly services, small groups, volunteer teams, and the engagement of new members.

Roles and Responsibilities 

A woman/man of God; a woman/man of prayer; a woman/man who knows by personal daily experience what it means to follow Jesus and be renewed by God’s grace, and who demonstrates godliness in her/his personal relationships, both in the Church and in the community.

Lead Earle Street by creating and establishing relationships that connect and engage it’s people through first impressions, small groups, and outreach in the community.

Responsible for overseeing community relationship building activities in order to better connect the people of Earle Street with the Greenville community.

Responsible for creating an environment that welcomes guests and provides the next steps towards connection and spiritual growth. Responsible for helping new members find their unique purpose at Earle Street and help them connect into a ministry. Responsible for developing a systematic and effective approach to connect people in small groups and moving them from guests to members who embrace their growth potential and engage in the missions and ministries of our church.

Plan and coordinate leadership training opportunities to assist in the development of new leaders within the church. Coordinate with the Technology Committee and other staff as appropriate to develop and implement a social media strategy for the church. Assist the Senior Pastor in teaching, preaching, visitation, and pastoral care as needed.

Organizational Relationships

The Connections Pastor functions within the following organizational parameters:

  •  Is directly responsible to the Senior Pastor 

  • Serves as staff liaison to the Spiritual Growth and Missions Clusters

  • Works closely with the Nominating Committee

  • Works with Sunday School Council and Discipleship Team to focus on Christian education



Able to articulate her/his relationship with Jesus Christ, profess a well-grounded and vital faith, and exhibit a Christ-centered life.


Relationship-oriented with the ability to build rapport with children, youth, and adults. Approachable and humble with a confidence grounded in her/his identity in Christ. Dedicated to worship with a teachable spirit and responds to the leadership structure of Earle Street. A desire to see and help the church grow in its commitment to live “The Greater Way” as outlined in “Our Greater Way Covenant”.



At least three years of experience working with groups (education, ministry, counseling). A bachelor’s degree or higher with a desire for continued professional development.
